I have been thinking a lot about how we are always saying goodbye. Goodbye to our youth. Goodbye to friends and coworkers as we move to new jobs. Goodbye to loved ones when they die. Goodbye to phases in your relationship when it’s new and hot and you can’t get enough of one another and you have time and privacy to explore without a care in the world. Goodbye to wearing high heels because it makes my feet and lower back feel broken.
Read MoreErik has been going through an emotional phase. When we reprimand him, he gets emotional, which can feel a bit manipulative. For example, today, when I picked him up at after-school care, he saw me and kept right on doing what he was doing. I said, "Come on guys, clean-up, let's go."
Read MoreThe boys only have six more days of school! Even with school almost complete, the boys had projects and studying to do this weekend. We spent some time helping Erik complete a brochure about his recent trip to Pt. Reyes and Casey studied for a few big tests.
Read MoreLast week the dreaded No School November fun started. The boys didn't go to school on Thursday and Friday. This week Erik is out of school everyday by 11:15 a.m., but Casey is not. Next week they have no school.
Read MoreI have this alarm inside my body that goes off at 9 p.m. It is the "I don't want to be responsible for anyone, anymore!" alarm. I have had years of walking up and down the hallway getting boys something so they will finally go the hell to bed. They are big now and I as long as they are in their beds by 9 p.m., nobody gets hurt.
