After 9 p.m., Mommie Dearest visits

I have this alarm inside my body that goes off at 9 p.m. It is the "I don't want to be responsible for anyone, anymore!" alarm. I have had years of walking up and down the hallway getting boys something so they will finally go the hell to bed. They are big now and I as long as they are in their beds by 9 p.m., nobody gets hurt. They are growing boys that need their rest, and I am a Mom that needs an hour to MYSELF without anyone needing a damn thing. On the weekends, when I don't have to juggle so much, I am more patient, but not Monday-Thursday. Get your cute ass to bed and stop talking. Mommy loves you, now goodnight.

Our evenings generally look like this, unless we have soccer or an event: Make dinner, clean-up dinner, make lunches, help boys with homework, demand they take shower/bath, if time, watch a bit of TV, and then finally bedtime. This isn't all of what happens in the short few hours after work, but you get what I mean.

Sometimes it feels like we're in a machine that just keeps resetting. The routine helps keep our lives organized, but it is NORMAL to fantasize about having a housekeeper, maid, and gardener and just hitting the gym, spa and salon while the boys are at school? Of course it is. I know you do it too. I was just checking. I bet you also fantasize about driving to the airport  and getting on the next available flight with just what you have on you too, right? Gosh, we have so much in common!

Ummm, back to reality.

Last night Erik had his last soccer practice. HURRAH for last practice! Pedar took Erik to soccer and I got dinner going and did chores. Casey was done with homework so he helped me with putting garbage out and starting laundry. I should of had him vacuum and dust too. These kids need more to do! I had asked him to help Erik with his homework because I knew he had a ton do today, but somehow Casey missed that text. Grrr. (Santa is watching!!)

Pedar got home, we ate dinner and then it was a mad rush to help Erik get a ton of homework done. Finally it was done and Erik hit the shower and was almost off to bed. I was watching the clock because Will and Grace starts at 9 p.m.  and I wanted to be on the couch watching Jack and Karen. I didn't want anyone needing water, or a story, or a snuggle or anything. If you don't get it by 9 p.m.,  you may not be getting it. I turn into Mommie Dearest after 9 p.m.

Eureka! I made it to the couch. It felt like a huge victory.

It is Friday. Thank you, God. I got some stuff done this week and am feeling ready to welcome some relaxation. Only three more soccer games and every Saturday is free. WHAT?!!! Until indoor soccer begins. (Insert fake smile here.)  I hope you have a  great weekend. Do something for you! Make yourself smile. Fill your own bucket.
