I finally finished our master bathroom refresh and I LOVE it! A few months back I looked at the light that we bought from Home Depot in 2013 and couldn’t look at it another minute. I ordered a new light that day! The next month when I was painting several doors black, I decided to paint the inside of the bathroom door black. I loved the change. Then I decided I couldn’t be surrounded by the same damn baby blue anymore, so I painted the bathroom white.

The self-doubt can really get to you. I took a break and came back to it and powered through and I am so glad I did.

Read MoreThis little flowerbed area has finally become something really lovely. This space used to have a rotting deck until we removed it in 2015. We slowly started creating a flowerbed. I planted fringe flower in the back, and spaced out society garlic and a few aparagus ferns. I was given violets and they have taken over beautifully.
Read MoreOur front porch doesn’t receive that much light so it looks really dark. I decided recently that I wanted to paint the front door a bright color. I thought I was going to paint it yellow, but I decided on a gorgeous blue called, “Dip in the pool”— it is a very happy light turquoise color.

Read MoreI don’t know how these crafty people do it because I think stenciling is hard and tedious. You have to tape the stencil to the wall, paint, let it dry and then start all over.
Read MoreOver the winter break we were able to take the boys on three different hikes. We went to Cronan Ranch near Coloma, Stevens Trail in Colfax and The Dipsea Trail in Mill Valley. I loved them all, but my favorite was the Dipsea Trail.

Read MoreI have been thinking a lot about how we are always saying goodbye. Goodbye to our youth. Goodbye to friends and coworkers as we move to new jobs. Goodbye to loved ones when they die. Goodbye to phases in your relationship when it’s new and hot and you can’t get enough of one another and you have time and privacy to explore without a care in the world. Goodbye to wearing high heels because it makes my feet and lower back feel broken.
