What advice would you give someone to love you properly?

Poet Ariana Brown recently provided a writing prompt assignment that I loved. She directed her Instagram followers to write a poem with instructions on how to love you properly. Thank you, Ariana for the fantastic prompt. As Pedar and I approach our 23rd wedding anniversary, I was inspired to really think about what I need from him to feel loved. I smiled as I wrote my poem because he loves me so beautifully.

How to love me properly

If you want me to feel loved

Acknowledge my efforts, witness my work

Feed my soul, ask my brain beautiful questions

Help me celebrate my body with movement and touch

Care for me with kindness, partnership and food

Lead with yes, listen with good intentions

Be curious to learn and grow with me

Forgive, challenge, and seduce me

And above all, remind me to laugh and play
