Are you friends with your imagination?
“I believe that imagination is stronger than knowledge. That myth is more potent than history. That dreams are more powerful than facts. That hope always triumphs over experience. That laughter is the only cure for grief. And I believe that love is stronger than death.” ~ Robert Fulghum
Isn’t it funny how when you REALLY want something, you pray and imagine it happening to you and then when it finally happens, you forget about all the work you did willing it into your life?
When I’ve wanted something really badly, I would close my eyes and imagine myself being or doing what I wanted. If I am worried about someone, I imagine them enjoying the health they want or really whatever it is they need. Something about imagining it happening for them, gives me hope that it will.
When things seem too hard, I do a few things to cheer me up. First I recognize how lucky I am. I make a gratitude list. I exercise. I call a friend. I read something inspirational. I listen to music. I help someone else.
But the one thing that always seems to bring a lot of peace for me, is to take a moment to imagine the outcome that I want for myself, or even bigger, for the world. I may just be tricking my brain for that moment, but I like to think that I am throwing energy out in the world and creating a magnet for the picture I am creating in my mind. That is what brings a smile to my face.
What are you imagining for yourself, for your family and for the world?
